Capstone College of Nursing Renovations

Building History

The Capstone School of Nursing was completed in 2010 and was the first building specifically designed for nursing instruction.  It includes:

  • 148 seat auditorium
  • 3 large classrooms
  • Computer lab
  • 34 bed clinical practice lab
  • 6 METI simulation labs
  • 2 quiet study rooms
  • Student lounge
  • Faculty and Staff offices

The program experienced such a rapid growth that an addition was planned and completed in 2020.  It included classrooms, a food venue and dining area, collaborative spaces, and faculty /staff offices.

The building site also includes beautiful green spaces for reflection and relaxation.

The finishes specified for the facility are reflective of those repeated on the University of Alabama campus.  Terrazzo floor patterns define the lobbies and corridors.  Luxury vinyl tile continues the floor pattern and provides a finish that is easy to maintain and beautiful.  The color palette relies on warm and cool neutrals highlighted by the University of Alabama’s unique crimson.
